Water bottles or not?

If I had a choice to choose between having water or  not, I would say that we should not have water bottles because water bottles have bad chemicals in them and you can get water for free at bubblers. Why would you pay for something you could get for free? There is a reason we have bubblers, it's because people can't afford water and even if you can there is no point of getting a bottle that you will throw away and ruin the environment. There is a way to save our planet and it's not using water bottles.

My reflection on the Academy 11-25-11

This week was short, we only had three days. We presented our skits for science in front of sophomores.  I took my first test for Of Mice and Men. It was a very short week, and nothing really happened.

My reflection on the Academy 11-20-11

Last week of the academy was really fun. In art we made clay crystals. I really love working with clay, it's really fun! Then we took a test is science and worked on our skits, in social studies we worked on our project and we took a test. For Ms. Miller we took a retest and read our books Mice and Men.

For our books, I have been reading and doing the study guide but I didn't know that we weer supposed to highlight things in the book. I'm pretty far in it but I didn't highlight anything, I don't want to go back and read it all over again. I wish she told us before we started to read, and I know that it was probably on a Google docs but I don't always go on my computer. 

I think if we are assigned a project or reading a book, that the teacher should put the information on one document instead of three or two.

My reflection on the Academy 11-09-11

So far this week of Academy has been a little tough. On Monday we were in Mr. M's room right away, we did an experiment. Then we went to the Academy room and took the test on the two chapters we read for social studies. After we took the test we went to Ms. Millers room and worked on a project. We all went down to the Academy room to see how we did on our tests. Everyone failed except for Drew and Emma, I am being really honest right now, I did read the chapters and study them but it was so boring and hard to read I forgot what I was reading and it was hard to memorize everything. So now we have another test on Friday on the same chapters... so now I really have to get myself to get into this book. 

On Tuesday we were in Mr. M's room all day because we had to do a lab that would take like 3 hours... I was partners with Benji. That was a bad idea but I didn't pick partners so not my fault. Then the lab was frustrating because I needed directions on what to do but we had to do the project all on our own with our partners and I had no idea what to do, then Benji was really hyper so that was more frustrating. Then Aubrey saw that I was struggling so she helped me and Jace (her partner) kept Benji busy so we finished the project right as the bell rang. Today we are going to the art room right away... I hope it's a good day!

My reflection on the Academy 11-03-11

This week that was really last week wasn't terrible. We got a book to read for social studies, we had to read chapter 3 and 4 then we had a test on Monday about it.  We started doing a lab in science and in Ms. Millers class we are doing a group project about a book we are going to read called Mice and Men. In my group I have Sebastian, Benji and Alex. We are the Biographers, we are researching facts about Steinbeck ( the author of Mice and Men) and about his past.
I have been having troubles with my group because they are all guys and all they want to do is play video games. I was trying to find the answers to the questions on the data bases all by my self and it was really hard. But at the end of the day Benji stepped in and helped me find the answers and he also made the power point. Also Sebastian and Alex picked out the color for the power point.

My reflection on the Academy 10-28-11

This week only had three days of school! It was nice and simple. I really needed the extra days to sleep in because I was really tried.
On Wednesday three groups that didn't do the letters but they presented to the school board about their research and what they found was the best technology to use in school.

My reflection on the Academy 10-19-11

This week was about two weeks ago. I'm am late writing this because I forgot. Well that week we worked on our letters to the school board about technology. When we went to the Apple store I colected data about the iPad 2 and the McBook Air. We did this because we are starting a new program at our school called the one to one program. It's about having each student have there own piece of technology instead of using math books, reading books and other subjects's books. The technology I thought would be better was the iPad 2 because it's fast and easy.
That week was a chilled week, it wasn't that hard! I liked that week.

My reflection on the Academy 10-13-11

This week has gone by so fast! Today we went on a field trip to Mayfair Mall to the Apple Store. We looked at all the technology  that they have for our new project. Then we stayed for lunch and ate in the food court. I went to the lower level and ate at Panera with Aubrey, because I was craving their Broccoli and Cheddar soup with a beget, it was delightful. We came back to school after we ate and we are now working on things that need to be done like Achieve 3000, Blogging, reading or working on our new project.
I liked this week because it went really fast and because we don't have school tomorrow. I had fun this week and I'm looking forward to next week!

My reflection on the Academy 10-5-11

This week we have been working on a science project. My partner and I almost had our experiment almost done and then our teacher told us to do it over again a different way... It confuses me that our teacher didn't tell us how to do our project before we were almost done and now I have to use my study hall that I have today re-doing our project. I'm not mad about losing a study hall but I'm frustrated with this project because we have been working on it for a long time and now we have to re-do it and we still have a lot more things to do for this project.
I feel like this week has been really tough because I have been trying really hard and now we have to re-do the project. Also with my other classes I'm trying to study and get my homework done but it's hard with all the Academy homework we have like reading, Achieve 3000, Blogging and research. Plus I have volleyball on top of that and our coach wont let us miss practice.
Being a freshmen at Arrowhead High School is really tough with sports, school and a new class that is being developed day by day and it's something new that I have never done before. High School is tough, you can't get behind or you'll never catch back up. And you don't get much free time to yourself because you are to tried to do anything when you get home.
This week has been hard and I'm excited that we don't have school on Friday! I hope the next week will be better... :)

My reflection of the Academy: 9-29-11

This week in the Academy has been difficult. We got assigned a new project and the teachers don't like my partner  and I's ideas. We are trying really hard to come up with a solution but we turn out to have a problem each time. Also our teachers have been giving us lectures because some guys in our class can't be quiet and they won't listen!
I have been trying hard this week and I think I'm getting the hang out this blogging, goggle docs and achieve 3000.
If i had to change one this about this week it would be the teachers explaining the projects and what they want from us better. I feel like I can only talk to one out of three teachers because I feel like the other ones will yell at me.
Being in the Academy has its ups and downs and I'm still not sure if this class is right for me or not... {:

What does "College and Career Readiness" means to me?

What "College and Career Readiness" means to me is that we need to be ready for college and our future career. The 21st century skills really help me get the right information. The skills I need for my future are knowing what websites I need to use for the correct information.
When I am older i would love to travel Italy and write fiction books. To be successful at that I would need to take more writing, language and English classes.
Writing and traveling are important to me because it's how i express my feelings and I get to learn new things along the way!

The Ropes Course

I got a chance to climb up high and walk across a wooden beam. I was scard at first but my classmates helped me through it. What i got out of it was that I can trust my classmates even if they are joking around and being funny. I know that they will always be there for me even if I fall.
When I was standing on that wooden bean really high in the air, they were supporting me with every step I took. My classmates are awesome and I could not have asked for better ones!

Design A Room

In a new class, called The Acadamy, I've been taking at Arrowhead High School we got our first project. What we had to do is design our classroom into something fun and creative. Our mission was to design a classroom that was not like normal classroom, it had to be creative, fun and something that would help us learn better. During this project I learned that there can be a bunch of different ways to learn, and how my classmates learn. Getting this chance to give something to the class and have your idea(s) put into the room was awesome. Having the chance to make our classroom really showed me that the teachers care about our ideas and thoughts and how students really want to learn. I learn a lot about my classmates through this project and I learned about myslef too.
