PSA Evaluations

This week everyone finished up their projects by presenting them to "important people" that could help us with ideas about our project. When presenting to the person you have to show a PSA that you made. For the PSA's I believe that the top three that really made me think about the problem was Lauren's, Emma's and Halie's. If we could choose our own then it would be Mine, Lauren's and Emma's. I think that Matt's PSA didn't need all of the words because people are not going to take the time to read everything it says, he could put some key words that stand out. I didn't like how Alex's didn't have music and it was a little boring to watching, he could put some videos in too. I liked Sean's a lot to maybe be in my top five but he should use some bright or eye catching colors but the FREE MONEY title was really good to use. I didn't really get a lot of information that I wanted to know from the PSA's but if you took the time to write down notes from each PSA, I think you would get enough information to understand the problem it is effecting on the Earth and what we could do to stop it.

Reflection

For our final exam project I have learned a lot about the environment and how important it is to keep it clean. In eighth grade I help out a group of people clean up trash on the side of a road and I didn't really know why it was important to clean up. Now I know more about what I could do to help the world just by cleaning up a couple of piece of garbage. I think I will get a lot out of this project because it shows and tells us how to help the Earth. I will show my family what we could to make our home more "green".

Riddles

1. Rosters don't lay eggs. 2. There were in the cabin of an airplane that crashed and started the fire around them. 3. Tom. 4. Take the grain, then the chicken, then the grain back, then the fox, then the chicken back, then bring the grain over again, then the chicken. 5. They are both hurricanes and every one was happy with Craig's death because they don't want the hurricane to go on land to destroy their houses.

My eyes are open

This poem really told how much the Native American love the Earth and how they helped the Earth. It made me think about what I do for the Earth and why I deserve to be here. When we sail over to American all we did was made crops and chop down trees to make houses. Now we have destroyed the Earth with roads and skyscrapers that are not needed. After hurting the Earth so much we are trying to save it by making chargeable cars, solar panels, windmills, etc. Instead of using more energy we should be planting more trees and plants to make up for what we cut down. We don't need cars and computers to live, just look at our past. It's really sad how far we have come and what we have done to destroy everything that we were offered like trees, food, water, shelter, and warmth. I believe we should plant flowers in front of the school or plant a tree somewhere on the property to show that our class cares. One little thing like planting a tree can make a difference to the Earth. We should start giving back and since yesterday was Earth day we could go along a road and pick up the garbage that people throw out of there cars. Reading this poem has opened my eyes to become a better person by helping out. I'm glad that the teachers have assigned us the project we are doing because we are saving the Earth at the same time we are doing school work and trying to get a good grade. It's time to make a difference and we are the one who need to make it.

Our new project!

For our new project I am done with the proposal. That's truly all I have done but I almost have my book done and have sent a letter to 27 students to help with my project. This week I will be working on my collecting my data, finishing my book and starting research my social studies part of the project. The questions I have for my teachers are:
1. Is this apart of our Exams, and if it is then are we taking big tests at the end of the year?
2. If I did bad on this project (not going to happen) will there be a change to improve my grade?
3. If we read more then one book for our topic will there be extra points added or will we have to pick one that we read?
4. Since this is going into a research paper how long is it required to be?
5. Are we persenting this in more then one way then just a paper?

Romeo and Juliet Responce

After making a movie on Act 3 for Romeo and Juliet, I thought I did pretty good compared to some other student. I was really proud of my work, this was really fun for me once I got into what I was doing. I thought this movie was really easy and I would rather make a movie then take a test because it's so much more fun and I don't have to study for it. This project was really cool and I would love to do it again!

The Olympic Games

The Olympic Games bring a lot of countries together by sports. It’s a time to put away all of our differences and show off what we are best at. The Olympic games mean to me, a lot of countries that want to show off their skills to the world, a time where people can be known for what they are talented at, their gift in life. The Games are a big deal to me because I have been watching them since I was a kid. Most of my idols are in the Olympics like, Shawn Johnson, Misty May- Treanor and Kerri Walsh. When I them performing what they love it amazes me because I know them must have worked really hard to be where they are now. I know if I work hard at what I love, I can achieve and make my dream true. I believe that the Chinese want the gold so bad and they train their people so hard to get them to bet everyone. Four years ago in the 2008 Summer Olympics, there was a Chinese girl competing on bars, for gymnastics, she was amazing, she would jump from the high bar to the low bar like she could do it in the sleep, but then she fell on one of her flips and she started to cry. She was not hurt so she got back up and finished. When she was done and saluted to the judges her coach gave her a hug but she was really upset. The reason she was upset was because the government was helping her family out by giving them money because she was competing in the Olympics for them, she was taking away from her family to train for the Olympics for years. She was scared that the government would be mad at her for falling and would stop giving her family money to survive.
I believe the Olympics should not be about wining, but about being with other great athletes and celebrating about being together. The United States of America doesn’t care if you fall on the bars or tripping in a race; it’s about representing, showing off and having fun! If I were in the Olympics I would want to compete either in gymnastics or volleyball. I would want to compete gymnastics because I love the sport, well only floor. The only problem about gymnastics is you can get hurt really easily and really badly, like one year in the Olympics a team was practicing for the next day and she was doing vault. When she was flipping over the vault she landed on her back and died instantly because her spin broke. For volleyball I like the sand volleyball with only two people on a team. I like volleyball but I don’t like school volleyball. Watching Misty May- Treanor and Kerri Walsh on the sand diving all over the place is really sweet. I love their enthusiasm and excitement in the Olympics. They are truly a crowd pleaser and everyone loves watching them. That’s what I would like to do if I went to the Olympics, I want to create a show for everyone watching, I want people to love watching and not care about winning a gold or silver metal. The Olympic Games to me would be amazing and a great opportunity, they are about celebrating everyone being together and the great talent we are gifted with.

If I were Xiaochun...

If I were Xiaochun I would be upset about the whole situation. I would not like my father trying to do and give up everything for me to be a famous violinist. I would choose family over being famous even though he was adopted. The good thing about Xiaochun going back to his dad is that family is forever, you can't replace your family. They will love you no matter what happens in your life. Also he could help his father make the money that he lost. The bad thing about going back to his dad is Xiaochun wont be able to become famous and he will not be forgiven by his teacher. This was a once in a life time opportunity and he didn't take advantage of it.
I believe that Xiaochun made the right decision by going to his dad because he can always find another job and could play the violin for money but not professionally. His dad will always be there to support him no matter what he does and his dad took him when no body wanted him showing that he has a big heart and would do anything for Xiaochun.

Newton's three laws

Newton's three laws can apply to my life because it is reality. The first law says whatever is in motion stays in motion until acted by another force, for an example in the hallways of high school, if you are walking down the hallway and some kid pushes you, you are in motion until you hit the lockers or another person. Another example is for the third law, which is for every action there is a reaction, I could be doing a round-off on the floor and I would bounce up a little bit after landing it because of the springs in the floor and the power of the round-off.
These laws relates to English because a book stays at rest until you open it.
